We’re a quarter of the year in, and it’s time to kick off April with some great events! This month there’s a wide variety of music, culture, art, and food events for you to check out.

April Events in Taipei


Waiao Beach Spring Castoff  (April 5 – 7)

If you’re off from work due to Tomb Sweeping Festival, why not get out of Taipei? This festival in Waiao, located around two hours away by bus or train, might be your best bet for a fun time away. With live music, pizza, beers, and partying on the agenda, it’s sure to be a memorable couple of days! Learn more here.


2018 Looptopia Music Festival (April 6)

“The 2-day event will host over 50 Top DJs and entertainers. DIY Pottery Workshop Sake Set Class (April 6 – 7)

“Have you ever wanted to make your own sake set to use? Now’s your chance! Cloud Forest Collective, in partnership with Red Room Taipei, are happy to announce workshops where you can make your own vessels! Works will be hand-built, not thrown on a potter’s wheel…” Learn more here.


Kesha live in Taipei (April 8)

Kesha has been killing it since returning to the music scene after a tumultuous couple of years. Her album, Rainbow, has seen commercial success with powerful singles including Pray, Woman, and Learn to Let Go. Now you can catch Kesha live in Taipei for one night only at Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center. Find out more here.

2018 HUG n Party+Live Band+Battle (April 8)

From what I can gather, this event at the National Taiwan Normal University is a competition of DJs, bands, and dancers. Read more here.


 The PUB QUIZ Returns (April 11)

Urban Nomad Garage Rockin Craze Taiwan Premiere (April 12)

“We will open the 2018 Urban Nomad Film and Music Festivals with a rockin night of film and music –– the Taiwan premier of Garage Rockin’ Craze, a documentary from the Tokyo underground, followed by Q&A with filmmaker B.B. Clarke and performance by one of the bands in the film, The Minnesota Voodoo Men, along with local Taiwan garage punk band The Stressful Sound…” Read more here.


Diary of Anne Frank Hua Shan 2018 (April 13 – 15)

After a completely sold-out first run and much critical acclaim, Butterfly Effect Theatre’s theatrical production of “The Diary of Anne Frank” will be staged once again – this time at Huashan 1914 Creative Park. With three dates in Taipei, and another three in Tainan, the play is set to be one of the most popular theatre performances of this year. Find out more here.

It’s Fiesta Friday, All You Can Drink Margaritas (April 13)

Need to let your hair down or drown some sorrows? Head down to Twinkeyz Tacos all you can drink margaritas night in the middle of this month. NT$600 entry. Find out more here.


Second Hand Saturday (April 14)

Urban Nomad Opening Freakout (April 14)

One of my fave events of the year, this is an outdoor music festival that packs a real punch! There’s more than 30 bands and DJs, as well as “food, craft beer, a pop-up vinyl DJ stage, art installations and booths, circus performers and new surprises!” Read more here.

Urban Nomad Afterparty featuring Angelo Moore (DJ set) (April 14)

After you’ve spent the day at the Opening Freakout, make your way to the official after party at Triangle. There will be multiple DJ sets so you can dance until your feet hurt. Read more here


Stylish Queens Dancehall Workshops in Taipei! (April 18 – 20)

Dancers won’t want to miss this series of dance workshops at Road Castle. Over three days with three international teachers, you’ll learn to hone your dance skills. Learn more here.

Battle of the Startup Ecosystems (April 18)

Bloom Within (April 21)

“After a night of openness at our first Bloom Within event, sharing, and growth we decided that it was only right that we do it again. The 2nd Asian Dancehall Queen & King Competition 2018 (April 21)

Dance Apparent and Dance Jamaica present the 2nd official Asian Dancehall Queen and King competition. This will be the second time that a Dancehall Queen and a Dancehall King will be crowned for the Asian region. The competition will feature the best Asian Dancehall dancers showing their talent to the sounds of original Jamaican Dancehall music. Discover more here.
